"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy."

Sacrosanctum Concilium, No. 112

ABOUT

Welcome to The Musica Sacra Project.

Founded by Australian soprano, and sacred music specialist, Grace Feltoe, this was a call to provide a large international resource library to the English speaking world, as a means for liturgical sacred music formation within the Catholic Church. With the growing renaissance of traditional sacred music within Catholic liturgies, this website is available with the hope that those within Church music ministry, those of a theological and apologetics background, or those who appreciate or are wishing to support the movement may find an accumulation of resources in one place. Content, events, reading resources and interviews will be continually added and updated, while those wishing to seek reverent, holy and universal music from contemporary Catholic composers may look through the online New Music shop.

The Musica Sacra Project is now also providing workshops internationally, for school age to adult formation, whether parish, schools, campuses, small groups and/or individually. With a very practical and choral approach, workshops can currently include Gregorian Chant, hymnody, polyphony and the propagation of reverent contemporary compositions. If you wish to host a workshop, please contact us.

This website is a voluntary initiative to educate and form musicians within the Church, highlighting the importance of Church teachings, and forming an international community with musical and spiritual formation and collaboration across the world.

While this is a voluntary cause, please consider donating to help support the cause, to pay for website upkeep and to enable the project to grow. Any amount big or small would be most appreciated.

Mathias Théry

Contributor

Mathias Théry is a French choir conductor and singer, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, under the guidance of Florian Helgath. During his studies in choral conducting at the Pôle Supérieur de Musique de Paris – Boulogne and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, he has been shaped by inspiring teachers such as Daniel Reuss, Benjamin Goodson, and Marc Korovitch.

Deeply committed to the renewal of sacred and liturgical music, Mathias founded the Lux Amoris liturgical choir and the Lux Amoris School of Liturgical Music, both dedicated to promoting the beauty of sacred repertoire and to training cantors for the liturgy. He works closely with the Parish of Saint-Roch in Paris, where he contributes to the musical life of the liturgy and develops projects linking artistic excellence and prayer.

Alongside his work in sacred music, Mathias conducted several choirs in Paris and Normandy and regularly collaborates with children’s and youth ensembles. As a singer, he has performed with the Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris, the Stella Maris Chamber Choir, and other professional vocal groups. His studies in Gregorian chant at the Chœur Grégorien de Paris, together with his training in musicology at the Sorbonne, have nourished his passion for the historical and spiritual roots of choral art.

Mathias continues to refine his craft through workshops and masterclasses with conductors such as Kaspars Putniņš, Justin Doyle, and Vincent Dumestre, seeking to serve both the concert stage and the living tradition of liturgical music with artistry and devotion.
